About the Company
Our client a leading supplier to the pulp, paper, steel, rubber and plastics industries are seeking to employ a Field Technician to join the team at Darwen.
Field Technician - The Rewards

  • Salary up to £50,000
  • A market determined rate of pay which is enhanced for outworking overseas.

  • Full training is provided and, as this is a physically demanding role, successful candidates will be required to undertake medical checking and immunisations for the worldwide travel.

Field Technician - Requirements
  • Knowledge & experience in machining to close tolerances, including the associated maths required to measure, align and verify said tolerances
  • Machining or related machine shop experience
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including fault finding
  • Thermal spray experience
  • Industrial mechanical & fitter experience.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical repair
  • Military background advantageous but not essential
  • The dedication to learning and continuous improvement of both oneself and the business.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • A minimum of 50% travel, including holidays and weekends, many times with very short notice.
  • Clean driving record, ethical, and reliable.
  • Hardworking.
  • Shop work is a standard 8 hour day.
  • Shop work includes the maintenance of our equipment and preparation for the next projects.
  • Field work requires 12 hour day and night shift patterns for the duration of the project.
  • The average project length is 7 days, including travel days. However, some projects may be scheduled back-to-back.
  • Field machining and thermally spraying is hot, dirty, and physically demanding work.
This position is ideal for a machinist, mechanical, or electrical skill-base candidate with the desire to advance, learn, and lead.  Electrical training is preferred. 
Field Technician - Responsibilities
You will perform a range of service work covering cylinder service on customer sites and the maintenance and repair of equipment required to carry out the customer service work.
  • Implement drying cylinder service projects - repair/grinding / thermal spraying/inspection/measurement - on customer sites
  • Maintain, repair and service equipment used in the field operations to make sure safe and effective operation without lost time due to equipment failure
  • Monitor and report equipment function noting deviation from normal operating conditions whilst working on customer sites
  • Troubleshoot technical issues
Work complexity and business impact - follows established procedures and guidelines to perform a variety of operational and manual tasks that form part of service process, job is based on routines.
