4 more reasons to support Alder Hey Children's Charity
They need your support for their mental health appeal
In Spring 2020 they launched their £3m Children's Mental Health Appeal, supported by Appeal Ambassador Shirley Ballas.
Their 7 in 10 Appeal highlighted that 70% of young people with a mental health condition are currently missing out on vital mental health interventions at a sufficiently early age the Appeal aims to raise vital funds to enhance inpatient and community mental health services at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, enabling more children to access the treatment they need at the time they need it.
They need your support for next-generation technology to change hospital visits forever
Alder Hey is fundraising to revolutionise the hospital experience for young patients and families, by piloting next-generation technology to reduce anxiety, distract patients during procedures and help parents relax too.
Alder Hey is already home to some of this amazing technology. Their digital fish tank, where patients waiting for day case surgery can relax by designing a sea creature and watching it swim, is the only one of its kind in Europe.
They need support for research, innovation & education
Your support will help develop better, safer medicines and treatments to benefit young patients at Alder Hey and children worldwide.
They want to find the very best treatments, that’s why Alder Hey is working to develop the next generation of medicines and interventions that are even more effective, and safer. To support this vision they have helped to fund a new state-of-the-art research and innovation facility that will enable them to help even more patients.
They need your support for their fresh food service
Good nutrition is critical for patients who are recovering in the hospital. Alder Hey is the first children's hospital in the UK to have dedicated chefs in every patient ward who prepare fresh, nutritious evening meals for patients, whenever they want to eat.
Poor nutrition can lead to weight loss, a weakened immune system and slower recovery - resulting in longer hospital stays for young patients.
At Alder Hey, in-patients can order food from a chef working in the same ward, who will then prepare their meal and serve it in their bedroom. Families already love this service, and say it provides better nutrition and a better experience in hospitals, as well as reducing food waste.
